OM (Operational & Maintenance) Traing for DEWATS System in Khac Niem, Vietnam


DEWATS Helps Agricultural Sector in improving Environment Issue

Waste water treatment system for noodle processing village Khac Niem is built according to the policy of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which is in order to seek appropriate treatment technology and apply it for agricultural product processing villages in National Target Program for Water and Environmental Sanitation in rural areas.

The project started in the end of 2007 with DEWATS technology was selected to treat waste water for village Khac Niem. Some figure of project as follows:

  • Flow: Q = 400 m3/day
  • BOD5 input: 1437 mg/l
  • COD input: 3197 mg/l
  • BOD5 output: < 50 mg/l
  • COD output: <80 mg/l

The construction of DEWATS WWTP was started in April, 2009 and completed in April, 2010. The system came into operation in February, 2011.

 

OM Training is a must to ensure the sustainable system

 

As recommended by Vietnam Academy for Water Resources (VAWR), an O&M team for management and operation of DEWATS system has been established by People’s Committee of Khac Niem commune, including 4 people from the commune  attended by Mr The, Mr Si, Mr. Cach and Mr Khai.

Working group from Centre for Training and International Cooperation trained O&M team in Management and Operation for DEWATS in March, 9th, 2011. The content of training course is to instruct operation and maintenance of DEWATS. After introduction on the components of DEWATS, the working group guided O&M team what should do to ensure that DEWATS will operate. At the end of the training course, the team also came to the field to practice on management and operation of DEWATS.

According to comments from O&M team, Operation and Maintenance for DEWATS is quite simply, but it is essential to check regularly the system. O&M team also guaranteed to comply with the procedure of operation and maintenance trained by CTIC.
