Visit of Ms Sondermann / CIM Programme Co-ordinator Asia

On the occassion of annual visit in Q1/2010 Ms Sondermann,
CIM-Programme Co-ordinator Asia, visited 2 wastewater projects within
the greater area of Hanoi.

At the beginning Dr. Phong, Director of CTIC at VAWR, informed about
the fruitful cooperation and first results of partnership between CIM
(Centre for International Migration and Development) / BORDA and VAWR
(Vietnam Academy for Water Resources) so far.

The
School Based Sanitation (SBS) pilot project at Chroy Chong Va Primary
School in Phnom Penh has been progressing at a steady pace.

The
SBS project is an innovative project that focuses on social
mobilization, health & hygiene education, and improving sanitation
infrastructure at the primary school.
BORDA’s
role is focused on technical support for the development of sanitation
infrastructure, including constructing or renovating toilets and
handwashing facilities and developing a wastewater treatment system
(DEWATS).

Cambodia – Three DEWATS Commissioned

In the first quarter of 2010, three DEWATS were commissioned in Cambodia.
All
three DEWATS are very different in terms of size and application, and
they were all implemented using funding from multiple sources. The
DEWATS were designed and developed by local Engineers working for
BORDA-Cambodia, with strong sup-port from BORDA-SEA Engineers.

First DEWATS for a slaughterhouse in Vietnam DEWATS for Ha Phong Slaughterhouse in Haphong ward, Halong city, Quang Ninh province.

The
construction of first wastewater treatment plant using DEWATS
technology for a slaughterhouse in Vietnam was completed in February
2010. This DEWATS plant was designed and constructed for Thien Truong
Food Processing Co.LTD at Ha Phong ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh
province.
