Opportunities in South Tangerang to disseminate Dewats
In conjunction with the 6th TTG (Teknologi Tepat Guna) / Appropriate Technology for the people in of Banten Province, Integrated Social and Economic Development (BEST) and the Department of City Planning, Building and Housing of South Tangerang city featured Dewats CBS (MCK++), CBS Communal, Collective-septic-tank and integrated-solid-waste-management has the appropriate-technology for community base approach.

Over four days, from the 22nd to 25th of December, 2007, five members of the Janti Lestari self-help group, from Janti village in Sidoarjo city, East Java, took part in DESWAM (Decentralized Solid Waste Management) operations and maintenance training, in Tangerang.

Walking around Ngemplak Rejo village, in Pasuruan City, near the coast, is it clear that it is one of Pasuruan’s poorer areas. Most households in Ngemplak Rejo do not have toilet facilities. The area where people defecate is located along a minor public road and with no privacy. This has resulted in the pollution of groundwater and rivers making the water unfit for drinking, which, in turn, has caused high rates of diarrhea and typhus in the community.

From the 28th to the 30th of August, 2007, 14 participants took part in Assistant Supervisor Training at Cendana’s Hotel, in Surabaya. The participants came from all over East Java - Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Jombang, Kediri, Magetan, Blitar City, Blitar Regency, Pasuruan and Pamekasan. The training, facilitated by BEST Surabaya, aimed to train the participants to take on the role of Assistant Supervisors during the implementation of the SANIMAS 2007 program.

On July 10th, 2007, the 2008 road show, to promote the Sanimas 2008 Program, took place in Cilegon city, Banten Province. It was facilitated by Satker PLPL from Banten Province and was attended by many interested stakeholders, such as DPRD representatives, NGOs, and all local governments in Banten Province.
