BEST , one of NGOs which care about improving the family welfare of poor people especially they who live in poor settlement in urban area. This is the reason why BEST always operates in those locations.
BEST is known with its programs e.g. to prevent food crisis by conducting food distribution program (program nasi bungkus), to maintain sale system of nine basic staples, to improve community sanitation in poor settlements in urban area by constructing MCK plus ++ , information and communication for migrant labors through Drop-In program, public consultation program for Water Resources Maintenance and Flood Control for Ciliwung – Cisadane rivers, and to organize information and communication program through Social Safety Net Study for Health (UPM JPS-BK, Jaringan Pengaman Sosial –Bidang Kesehatan) and P2KP monitoring program.
BEST always use participatory and transparent approaches in all the programs. In this way, community can be maximally and openly involved in the programs. In order to obtain qualified and sustainable programs, BEST always maintain its programs using comprehensive and integrated approach by integrating all aspects of economy, social, culture, environment and technology. In order to carry out a transparent program, BEST hires public accountant to audits the financial administration every 6 months.
Established in 1995, as an institution BEST has a legal status registered under no. 54/1995 at the Notary Harun Kamil Jakarta.
BEST is also registered at Kanwil Departemen Sosial Jawa Barat no. 591/ORSOS/97 and at Direktorat Jenderal Sosial Politik Departemen Dalam Negeri tahun 1995. At present, BEST is supported by 20 professional, experienced and highly dedicated staff. BEST occupies its own property located in a strategic site in Tangerang and is equipped with office equipments and vehicles
BEST cooperates with local, national and international organizations either with government or non government offices like Dinas Kesehatan (Dinkes) Kabupaten Tangerang; Lembaga Penelitian, Pendidikan dan Penerangan Ekonomi dan Sosial (LP3ES); Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA), Jerman; Mercy Corp International (MCI); Kedutaan Jerman, Jakarta dan Canada Fund. BEST has networking communication with various organization networks such as URDI, FORKAMI, LSM Perkotaan, PKBI, LBH Jakarta, AKPPI, JARI, dan Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW).
